SUMMARY
CRIPS is a leading comprehensive critical care research centre of excellence where its scientists and physicians adopt a purely traslational research model, working together as multidiciplinary teams to advance personalized therapies and improve outcomes. Clinical Research is at the heart of its scientific activities, making it the driving force and inspiration behind the development of basic and traslational research programmes. Scientific activity is structured across for major programs: Severe Acute Respiratory Infections, Biomarkers, Lung transplant, Outcomes Research.
2014 has represented a crucial year, because the Group has approved the accreditations of CIBERES, AGAUR (consolidated research group for the period 2014-17) and the External Scientific Advisory Board of VHIR. Moreover, we enrolled the first patients for (USA) NIH sponsored research clinical trials. CRIPS wants to become a leading reference in drug discovery from concept to clinic, with members participating in Ad Boards and Guidelines, such as the European Guidelines on nebulized antibiotics, sponsored by ESCMID, and led from CRIPS. The group Lancet has published the GWAS project on pneumonia (sponsored by the 6FP of the European Union) and an Invited Review on Respiratory infections in Critically Ill patients, providing high visibility to the group. CRIPS is working with different international research networks, with projects endorsed by the ESCMID, ESCMID, CIBERES, and other. Our incorporation to the Steering Committee of the iNine project and The Oncological Critical Care Research Network, and the role leading the PLUTO Network, emphasizes our interest in research in immunocompromissed patients. Collaboration on International Projects on Donations (T Pont) are also adding value. These achievements would not be possible without the personal effort of investigators and researchers of the CRIPS Team. We are fully committed with the CRIPS spirit of “Think differently”, developing research and Innovation for the benefit of critically ill patients.
