SUMMARY
The main interest of our laboratory is the study of molecular events underlying the oncogenic process, especially in colorectal cancer. In 2008 colorrectal cancer was the tumor type with highest incidence in the European Union (333,000 new cases). Gaining a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms responsible for the tumorigenic process is essential to improve the diagnosis and treatment of these patients. A major scientific contribution of the group during 2014 has been the identification of RHOA as an important tumor suppressor gene in colorectal cancer mainly though the regulation of Wnt signalling.
